Welcome to Lakehurst Elementary School.  We are indeed a place where the vision of the school “Working Together To Build a Stronger Pride” is practiced and reflected upon.  Your child will experience a year filled with excitement, challenges, and achievement. 

You will discover our school to be a place where hard work, success, and innovation are recognized, supported, and rewarded.  Our highly competent and dedicated staff will provide a balanced curriculum and maintain high expectations for all students.  The motivation is to provide excellent teaching and learning based upon the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs of the children we serve.  Carl Sandburg said, “There is only one child in the world and that child’s name is all children”.

          As your principal, my first goal is to create a safe and secure learning environment for our students and all who enter our school building.  My second goal is to advocate a proactive approach to our school environment through our Pillars of Character and our Responsive Classroom social curriculum.  My third goal is to establish a culture that enhances a collaborative and constructive relationship among our students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members and our administrative team.  Last, it is my goal to cultivate strong ties between home and school.  By playing an active role in your child’s educational life at school we are reinforcing the importance of setting lifelong habits of work, study, organization, goal setting, and lasting success. 

As we approach the beginning of our 2007-2008 school year we will continue to integrate a unified approach to our curriculum, instruction and assessment.  Again, on behalf of the entire staff, welcome to Lakehurst Elementary School.  We value you as our partners in education.
