    Welcome to the Lakehurst School District!  The Lakehurst community is steeped in history. ( www.lakehurstnj.org ) From the beginnings of our country during the Revolutionary War to the current day technological advances in Naval engineering, Lakehurst has been and will continue to be part of the very fabric of our nation.                                                                                                           

    Our school community is no different.  Generations of families have enjoyed the positive learning environment Lakehurst Elementary School has established since 1938.  Our student population draws from the one square mile of the Lakehurst Borough and the federal lands attached to the Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst ( www.lakehurst.navy.mil ). As a “walking district” we enjoy a close relationship with the parents/guardians.  The staff meets daily with family members on an informal basis as children are dropped off and picked up.  This constant open and available communication has brought about a trust and partnership that all stakeholders benefit from.

    “The focus of all our efforts shall be to address the needs of all our students in order that they realize their full potential as learners and citizens."  This mission statement has been the cornerstone of every decision for the Lakehurst School District. We value each child as a student, but also look at each individual’s ability to impact the learning and lives of others.  To this end our staff plans units of study that incorporate differentiated instruction concepts that allow for cooperative learning, multiage grouping and service learning activities.

    Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget.  Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." At Lakehurst School District we look to involve our children, families, and community in every aspect of our school.
