Welcome to your child's 2019-2020 school year!  I am so pleased to be your child's resource teacher for reading, writing and math! I will be working with your child both inside the classroom with Mrs. Morris and within a smaller classroom setting with Mrs. Mine.  I know together we will make this an exciting school year filled with many wonderfully engaging learning experiences.
September- Our first weeks will focus on learning routines, developing a growth mindset, and getting to know each other. We will begin assessing student's to determine their current reading levels and we will begin to utilize various strategies to promote growth.  We will begin the new year collecting a new writing sample from each student and working towards strengthening and building on their writing progress throughout the year.
Be sure to check homework folders each day. Please encourage your child to read or read with your child each night for at least 30 minutes. Be sure to check your child's planner each day, initial that you have seen daily homework assignment or reminder and return it to school everyday
*Back to School Night- * Save the date* Monday September 16, 2019- this is a chance to visit your child's class, get a snapshot of your child's school day, learn classroom expectations and classroom behavior management.  (This is an adult only event) I will be in the front vestibule area this night working as Student Activities Coordinator- please make sure to pop by, introduce yourself and perhaps purchase a little something cute for your child. :)
The PTA will also be in the front vestibule area, please stop by and visit them as well. We are looking for 100% participation in joining our PTA- let's be the 1st class of 2019/2020 school year to accomplish that goal.
Remember to save your box tops! You can send them in anytime!
A little bit about me.. I believe in a partnership with the parents and children.  I base my daily instruction around motivation, positive expectations, and hands on learning.  I enjoy working with all children and work to instruct in ways that will keep the students excited about learning.  Together we can accomplish much. I look forward to getting to know my students and watching them make connections, make new friendships and experiencing new adventures in learning. Communication is the key: email, phone call or a note in planner with any issues that may arise. Please keep in mind- I need to dismiss the whole class before speaking individually or privately with anyone, I appreciate your patience!
I look forward to a wonderful school year!
